We are married!! Mr. and Mrs. David Edkins! I could not be more happy. The circumstances of the weekend were tough at times but I realize that I am truly the luckiest, most blessed women in the world! We had a beautiful wedding on the beach of Corona Del Mar and an Amazing 10 day honeymoon in Hawaii and most importantly We are very happily married and in love! We are trying to plan our reception as fast as we can and will let you know final date asap! Thank You so much to all of my family and friends that were there every step making phone calls and supporting Dave and I this weekend. It truly is amazing and because of everyone's help that we were able to plan such a wonderful wedding in 24 hours!
For any of you that may not have gotten all the details of our Wedding weekend adventure, My best friend Emily sent out this email that summed it up well. I wanted to share it with all of you!
"Hi Everyone-
Well, what a crazy 48 hours we had. Julie's wedding was this weekend and there was a lot that went on. On Friday evening we had a great rehearsal and dinner. Her church was in Anaheim Hills close to the 241 and the 91 interchange. During the rehearsal we all said that it was very windy, but we were sure that the winds would die down by Sunday. When we woke up Saturday morning we noticed that there were black clouds in the distance but didn't think much of it. As we sat in the nail salon getting our nails done, we noticed black clouds that seemed to be starting in Brea. As the afternoon went on the clouds got bigger and the smoke got thicker.
Around 3:00 on Saturday we got word that the church had to cancel on Julie's ceremony because the apartments just down the street were on fire. We got into turbo mode and got working on another plan for the ceremony, thinking that the reception site would still be fine. Julie decided that she would just have a ceremony on the grass outside the reception site.
Then, around 6:00 the reception site called to let us know that they were becoming a Red Cross Evacuation Center. They would have to cancel all events on Sunday. Wow! What a crazy time. We worked hard to create a new plan.
Julie and Dave decided that they would go to the beach with just their bridal party and family and have a small ceremony. We called all the guests to let them know that the reception was being postponed until December or January. Everything seemed to be working out well and Julie was being the most amazing bride ever! She realized that in the midst of her wedding, people were losing their homes.
Then, looking into a beach wedding closer, we realized that we needed a permit to get married at the beach. We were unable to get a permit as it was a Saturday, but we thought we would chance it. We went to bed on Saturday night ready for a great day on Sunday.
On Sunday we woke up amidst the ash and smoke to get ready for the big day. About half way through getting ready, we got word that her parents may need to evacuate. All of the bridesmaids, hair half curled and make-up half done, started packing up all of the important photos and documents.
We quickly finished getting ready and headed down to Corona del Mar. Julie got dressed at Dave's dad's beautiful beach house and then we were ready for the ceremony. As we were getting ready to walk down the beach aisle, the police showed up. After telling him our story he was so nice as to tell us he would just look the other way. He didn't break up the wedding and even told us congratulations!
All in all, it was a beautiful wedding. Julie was barefoot on the sand as she married Dave. The waves were crashing behind them and they got beautiful pictures as the sun set. After all of the stress, it ended up being a beautiful wedding. Julie and Dave will have an amazing story to tell. Through it all they showed an amazing love for each other. They worked through adversity and showed that they have such a strong relationship. I love them both and can't wait until they get back from Hawaii!!"... Thanks Em!
