About Jules

My name is Jules.
I have always loved to write. Even when I was a child I remember writing as a way of expressing myself.
I desire to help people who are hurting and want to live for something much bigger than myself and this typical (but blessed) American dream. I am learning and seeking what this looks like in my life.
I am a stay at home mom and I love it and would chose this life over and over again. But I do miss exploring the other dimensions of myself, when being a mom wasn't the number one hat I wore.
I love Jesus and am so in awe of His love for me. I hope my life can show even a bit of Him in me.

Just Some Mommy thoughts for today...

Summer got another little cold this week. It really didn't seem to be bad or bother her much until we put her to bed . Long story short, Tuesday night her and I slept on the couch together and she was snuggled up on my chest in my arms. Although I didn't get much sleep that night it was so worth it as she doesn't snuggle much and just getting to cuddle and comfort my little angel was truly priceless.
also every morning after Summer wakes up we sit in the rocker and read some stories... this has become such a sweet time together. We started reading a book called big sister and its so cute because she actually sits and listens to the entire book (when usually she just wants to turn the pages quickly) and she says baby when she sees the baby in the book.
Her latest funny thing is she likes to make funny faces back and forth at mommy and daddy as a little game. It all started one day when she was eating a sour apple and then now if I initiate with a funny face, she will play with me and laugh and laugh.

My dear Summer.
You are a true beam of Sunshine in my life. I never knew I could love anyone the way I love you. I love your personality. You are so happy, fun and full of life already at 16 months. I love how you are adventurous and independent but still so sweet and loving. You are a true blessing from God.
Love Mommy.

Summer Happenings... 16 months.

My sweet Summer girl is 16 months today!! Where has the time gone... It literally feels like we just brought her home from the hospital and now she is walking and talking and having a mind of her own. I always joke that this is why I want to have a lot of kids because I just can't handle them growing up so fast.. Here are some of the Summer happenings recently.
1. She walks and even runs now.: Summer took her 1st steps the end of August but really got the walking thing down on our Carlsbad camping trip over labor day weekend. She was just loving walking all over that beach (and such a great place to learn because the fall was gentle). She now is walking and running sometimes so fast I can barely catch her.
2. She LOVES to play outside. The minute I put her on the front lawn to play she starts bolted it full speed down to the park at the end of our street. and when she sees all the kids that live down there she starts screaming in joy.
3. She can talk. Here are most ( the ones I can think of) of the words that Summer has right now: up, down, more, baba, night night, mommy, daddy, papa, nana, ball, baby, doggy, woof woof, go,
4. She loves to go Up and down the slide at the park
5. She is finally becoming more of a cuddler and sometimes in the morning she will give you smuggles for quite a while. mommy and daddy love this
6. We recently took her to the zoo and we thought she would love all the animals but all she wanted to do was run around non-stop.

Smith Family Vacation: Lake Havasu

We just got back from Lake Havasu with my family and had a wonderful time! It was Summer's 1st time at the lake and in Papa's boat. We were there for about 4 days. The entire family was there. It was great. Here are some of the memories that i don't want to forget from this trip.
1. Summer wanting to walk non-stop while holding Daddy's or nana's or auntie's hands
2. Summer and Nana playing with the sand toys for like an hour a day
3.Summer eating the Big Stick in the sand
4.Summer standing up on Dave while we were cruising in the boat with her face and hair getting crazy blown by the wind
5. Summer being Daddy's girl all week
7. Dave entertaining Summer on the way home. While I was driving, I can hear them playing and laughing hysterically for like 2 hours. It was a pure joy to listen to them.
8. Doing Tae Bo with my mom in the bedroom so no one would laugh at us.

What a wonderful time. Summer was a true river rat. Here are a few pictures from our time.

let me tell you a little about our nice weekend.
Saturday Dave and I had a date day. My parents watched Summer for the afternoon and we went down to Laguna Beach and had brunch at one of our favorite spots K'ya restaurant. It is such a beautiful place. We enjoyed some sweet couple down eating a yummy brunch on the rooftop overlooking the ocean. We then walked around adorable Laguna Beach and then ending with some frozen yogurt. In one of the shops we were browsing we bought this little knick knack that i just love the saying on it " Enjoy the little things in life. For someday you will realize they were the big things" isn't that the truth. Those sweet everyday moments are the ones we look back on as vivid, dear memories. So it is so important to embrace them all.

and it fits perfectly on our shelves in the living room.

Then Sunday my best friend Emily's son Roland got baptized. I was so honored when Emily asked me to be the Godmother of her son. I love Roland so much and have been praying for him so much even before he was born. I know God answered our prayers in blessing us with such a special little boy. It was such a wonderful morning and we really enjoyed the church service as well. It was really neat to see how many friends and family made it out to Redlands early in the morning to be there with The Smith family on this special day. Such wonderful people. Jeff and Emily then had a reception at their home. It was really fun to see all the friends and their kids together. It is so neat that we are all having children in the same seasons. Jeff and Emily, I am so proud of you and this decision to raise Roland in a faith in Jesus Christ. and Roland I love you very much and cant wait to see the way the Lord grows you and uses you in this world.

new happenings!

So today is one of those mornings that I look around at my life and just smile. This happens a lot these days. I thank God abundantly for all the blessings in my life. My baby girl is such a joy! She is truly amazing. She has an amazing, happy spirit. It just blows my mind how happy she is. It makes me feel like I must be doing something right but in reality I think God just blessed me with a joyful daughter. So here are some of the new fun, sweet things my 9 and a half month old baby girl is up to.
1. morning smiles. this may be the highlight of our day. She calls for us when she is awake in the morning and when Dave or I go to get her she has the biggest million dollar smile and is kicking her feet and flapping her arms in excitement to see us! Really? isn' that a momma's dream?
2. Rolly Polly: So Summer's new thing is to roll back and forth from her back to stomach over and over again. It is hilarious cause she just entertains herself rolling back and forth for a long time.
3. playing the drums: When Summer is happy or having fun she moves her arms up and down fast and it looks like she is playing the drums. Its hard to describe but super cute.
4. She is so close to crawling and i think she is getting frustrated because she wants to move so bad. She gets on her knees and reaches forward and sometimes falls forward. She is so close. I am excited for the next stage of her development but am loving this stage of not having to chase her around the house.
5. she loves her cousins. The other day Summer's cousins were over and they are just so cute together. They love Summer so much! So much in fact that if B gets to see Summer and H doesn't. H is very upset and vice versa. So the other day B was over and he was playing with her and she was laughing like I have never heard her laugh before. She sounded like a five year old. It was amazing!
6. We took Summer over to the park the other day and put her in the little swing for the first time. She loved that!
Well that is all i have for now. have a happy weekend. Enjoy something beautiful!!

everyday things

My baby girl is growing so fast. So fast that sometimes it feels she is barely even a baby anymore. So I thought I would post a little bit about what she is up these days!
Summer Nicole is:
babbling and laughing a lot
trying new finger foods like her puffs, banana, graham crackers and even a little bit of chicken
Her favorite thing to do is sit in her highchair and feed herself lots of puffs
she is scooting backwards on her belly but not crawling yet
she smiles and kicks and laughs every time dave or I get her from a nap
she usually sleeps about 11 hours a night ( lucky mommy)
she loves other babies or kids in general
she loves our dog Brutus and smiles and talks when he comes to the window
she makes the cutest fishy face ever
she waves good night to her stuffed animals at bed time.
She is truly the joy of my life and we fall more in love with her everyday.
Love you baby girl Summer!
