About Jules

My name is Jules.
I have always loved to write. Even when I was a child I remember writing as a way of expressing myself.
I desire to help people who are hurting and want to live for something much bigger than myself and this typical (but blessed) American dream. I am learning and seeking what this looks like in my life.
I am a stay at home mom and I love it and would chose this life over and over again. But I do miss exploring the other dimensions of myself, when being a mom wasn't the number one hat I wore.
I love Jesus and am so in awe of His love for me. I hope my life can show even a bit of Him in me.

Summer Happenings

Here are some recent "Summer Happenings"
My sweet baby girl is officially moving into the toddler world. A few transitions recently kinda made me realize i officially don't have a baby anymore. (insert tear here) Here are a few of them:

She is pretty much done with formula and moving on to cows milk
she rarely eats baby food anymore and is all about eating on her own.
she loves, cheese, chicken, black beans, green beans and mac n cheese
she loves Sesame Street and laughs and talks to elmo
every time i put her in her crib for sleepy she stands up immediately
she has been crawling for a few months now and can get around the entire house in an instant
she can get up and down the stairs on her own now.
She can get from sitting to standing now problem
She can cruise across the couch.
she can walk wobbly while holding and pushing her walking toy
she is babbling more than ever and is really starting to understand a lot more.
she stands at the sliding glass door and talks to the dogs
she makes a woo woo sound when we ask "what does a doggie say"
she says naaa naa when we say "night night"
she shakes her head and arms when we say "do the happy dance"
she loves the pool and we go in a good few times a week.
she has 8 full grown teeth and a couple others peeking through
she still loves mickey mouse and will crawl around the whole house with her mickey figurines in her hands
she loves it when daddy helps her walk.
she laughs so much with her cousins.
she is in 24 months clothes
she is just so much fun!!

new happenings!

So today is one of those mornings that I look around at my life and just smile. This happens a lot these days. I thank God abundantly for all the blessings in my life. My baby girl is such a joy! She is truly amazing. She has an amazing, happy spirit. It just blows my mind how happy she is. It makes me feel like I must be doing something right but in reality I think God just blessed me with a joyful daughter. So here are some of the new fun, sweet things my 9 and a half month old baby girl is up to.
1. morning smiles. this may be the highlight of our day. She calls for us when she is awake in the morning and when Dave or I go to get her she has the biggest million dollar smile and is kicking her feet and flapping her arms in excitement to see us! Really? isn' that a momma's dream?
2. Rolly Polly: So Summer's new thing is to roll back and forth from her back to stomach over and over again. It is hilarious cause she just entertains herself rolling back and forth for a long time.
3. playing the drums: When Summer is happy or having fun she moves her arms up and down fast and it looks like she is playing the drums. Its hard to describe but super cute.
4. She is so close to crawling and i think she is getting frustrated because she wants to move so bad. She gets on her knees and reaches forward and sometimes falls forward. She is so close. I am excited for the next stage of her development but am loving this stage of not having to chase her around the house.
5. she loves her cousins. The other day Summer's cousins were over and they are just so cute together. They love Summer so much! So much in fact that if B gets to see Summer and H doesn't. H is very upset and vice versa. So the other day B was over and he was playing with her and she was laughing like I have never heard her laugh before. She sounded like a five year old. It was amazing!
6. We took Summer over to the park the other day and put her in the little swing for the first time. She loved that!
Well that is all i have for now. have a happy weekend. Enjoy something beautiful!!

everyday things

My baby girl is growing so fast. So fast that sometimes it feels she is barely even a baby anymore. So I thought I would post a little bit about what she is up these days!
Summer Nicole is:
babbling and laughing a lot
trying new finger foods like her puffs, banana, graham crackers and even a little bit of chicken
Her favorite thing to do is sit in her highchair and feed herself lots of puffs
she is scooting backwards on her belly but not crawling yet
she smiles and kicks and laughs every time dave or I get her from a nap
she usually sleeps about 11 hours a night ( lucky mommy)
she loves other babies or kids in general
she loves our dog Brutus and smiles and talks when he comes to the window
she makes the cutest fishy face ever
she waves good night to her stuffed animals at bed time.
She is truly the joy of my life and we fall more in love with her everyday.
Love you baby girl Summer!

a perfect day....

she was pretty sleepy here but i just loved her little eyes peaking out.

walking around the island.

Summer's first boat ride across the ferry.

the beautiful sunset to end our afternoon.

Today was one of those days that was just like the perfect day! I am sure you know what I am talking about. Where you are just so happy and everything feels right in the world. Oh how I love these days.. we had planned on having a family day today. We checked the weather and it looked like the rain was going to take a pause so we decided to go down to the beach. We started off the day with church and then a nice movie on the couch while pumpkin got a nap in. Then we headed down to balboa. We had a nice walk around the island with a yummy treat of coffee in hand. It was gorgeous out. Clear and sunny... and not too hot, not too cold. We then head across the ferry and ate at Ruby's on the pier (which last minute we remembered we still had a gift card from Dave's mom to use. extra bonus!!, thanks Carol ;) Then we hung out on the pier and watched a gorgeous sunset. We are now home. baby is peacefully sleeping and we are relaxing in a cozy warm house with a little bowl of ice cream. I told you it was a great day!! Heres a few pictures.. Hope you all are having a great, happy weekend!
lots of love and blessings to you!

The Many Wonderful Days of Christmas!

Well I realized I haven't posted since Christmas and since it was over a month ago I am just going to post a few pictures of some highlights. We had a wonderful Christmas. We got to spend quality time with all of the family which was so great and I think Summer had a wonderful 1st Christmas!! It was so fun to see her playing with her new toys. She was actually more into it then we anticipated!

Before and During.

Well I am going to finally try to get back going on my blog but the past few months have been so busy. Between buying and selling a house, remodeling our new house, Christmas, packing and unpacking and having an infant needless to say its been a busy season for us. But we are truly so happy and thankful. Dave and I were recently talking and just saying how we are so happy at this stage of our lives. There is nothing we would change and we feel so blessed that we have this beautiful home and wonderful family. We don't take these things for granted.
Well I have been wanting to post some before and after pictures of our house to show everyone. Dave worked so hard for a couple months ripping out the old kitchen and doing a ton of work on the new kitchen. He really impressed me with all his work. so here are some pictures of before and during and I just realized i haven't taken many good after pictures so those will be soon to follow.
